Navajo Thunder Ambisonic

This is a collection of immersive, ambisonic recordings from the Navajo National Monument.  This pack features a heavy thunderstorm captured from inside of a tent at the Arizona campground. On a late night, in early October 2022,  a massive thunderstorm came through.  The recordings were captured from the inside of a tent.

The sound of the thunderstorm is a dramatic and powerful symphony of natural forces. The storm begins with a distant rumble, gradually growing louder and more insistent as the lightning approaches. As the storm intensifies, the sound of thunder reverberates through the landscape, echoing off of the nearby canyons. The sound is deep and booming, with a power that can be felt as well as heard. In between the peals of thunder, the sound of raindrops hitting the roof of the tent is soothing and calming, in stark contrast to the power and intensity of the thunder. The soundscape is a powerful and awe-inspiring experience, evoking a sense of the raw power of nature and the beauty of the desert landscape.
